Tonight: Steve Holland – Stavros: Troubadour on Trial – plays original and international songs for voice and classical guitar. No cover. Holland will start playing at 7:30 p.m.

Friday and Saturday: 7:30 p.m., Lorraine Gervais will be performing live joined by Tony Unger on guitar, Greg Gavin on keys, Larry Casserly on bass and Ty Smith on drums. The music is jazz, mixed up with soul, R&B, Brazilian and originals.

Gervais has a way of taking a familiar tune on an adventure that leaves audiences remembering the song as one that she made her own. Since the early days of playing rock ‘n’ roll, blues, soul, and top 40, she has settled into jazz and R&B as the two areas that have brought the most pleasure and fun. Gervais’ emphasis, with her contralto voice and soulful delivery, is on jazz with a bluesy/R&B edge. She opened for the Pointer Sisters in the 1970s, Etta James in the ’80s, Charlie Hunter Band in the ’90s, and John Hammond last year. No cover.

Located at 101 Broad St. in Nevada City, the BellaVista Creekside Lounge has been dubbed “the best sounding and coziest place to enjoy live music in Nevada County,” says Brielle Morgan. “This the ideal weekend to come into the lounge to check out our new menu, just introduced, while you listen to the sweet sound of Lorraine Gervais, Nevada County’s premier female vocalist.”
