Think positive thoughts for a day

This letter is in response to the Nevada City man who insisted, in response to the “positive world” editorial, that the world is a terrible place and listed all the horrible events that are going on in the world today. I heartily disagree with him.

I recommend he watch the movie “The Secret.” It states that by thinking and talking about anything negative, you create more of it. I believe this, as well, and know it to be true from my own experiences. Also, this man’s obsession with the negative can only result in re-creating more of the very negative things he is imagining, talking about and acting on.

I challenge this man to think positive thoughts for a whole day, just as a test. It’s not putting your head in the sand to try to make the world a better place, is it? What can it hurt to think positively? (I don’t mean to deny that horrible events happen, just don’t think or talk about them.) The least that can happen is this man will feel better and the people around him will enjoy his company more. The best that could happen is that he could change the world for the better.
