These people are criminals, mass murderers

Here’s another point of view on trying terrorists in our courts. On Jan. 31, 2003, federal court judge William Young passed sentence on Richard Reid, the “shoe bomber.”

In his sentencing statement he talks about why we should consider these people to be criminals and nothing more. By classifying them as enemy combatants, martyrs or anything other than common criminals, we elevate their status far above anything they deserve. These people are mass murders and to treat them as anything different denigrates our system of justice.
