The13 moves to Miners Foundry

Nevada County’s junior high rock band, the13, has movedto Miners Foundry Cultural Center in Nevada City.

“The first three years at the Center For The Arts in Grass Valley were great,” says Director Rick Kirkpatrick, “…but now the program itself is telling me what needs to change.”

Other changes: Now there are two smaller bands, one for each semester of school, instead of one large band, for the upcoming school year. Each band will have up to eight members who rehearse for 10 weeks, concluding with a public performance.

Auditions for the first session will be Aug. 26, 7 p.m. at Miners Foundry on Spring Street.

Now in its fourth year, the13 program offers a unique opportunity for young musicians to have a real-life experience working together rehearsing, promoting and performing in a rock band.

Kirkpatrick may be reached at (530) 205-5821 and rtkirkpatrick@yahoo.com. See more on the Web at http://www.the13.org.
