The13 is a real-life rock band for youth

Taking a bubble break after a workout on the drums, Torie Rohrs, one of the13, will perform at The Center for the Arts in Grass Valley on two days: Saturday, June 2, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, June 3, at 2 p.m.

A rock band composed of junior-high students from Nevada County, the13 has been rehearsing under the direction of Rick Kirkpatrick and vocal coach Erin Gailsdaughter since January for these concerts. This program, now in its second year, offers a unique opportunity for young musicians to have a real-life experience in a rock band.

Tickets for $13 are available through the center’s Box Office, 314 W. Main St., Grass Valley, (530) 274-8384, ext. 14; its usual ticket outlets; online at http://www.thecenterforthearts.org; and at the door, if available.
