The ‘Sky’s The Limit’ with Nevada County Concert Band

Nevada County Concert Band’s Pioneer Park Picnic Pops summer series continues Sunday with a “Sky’s The Limit” concert.

Conductor Cheryl Baker chose music relating to flying up into the sky and beyond. The repertoire includes “Superman,” “Blue Skies,” “Swingin’ on a Star” and “Mars.” In addition, an ensemble of trombone, euphonium and saxophone players will play “Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz.”

At least 11 members from other Northern California community bands will join the Nevada County Concert Band this Sunday.

“I Know That One” game introduced at last month’s concert, which is similar to the “Name That Tune” television game, will be repeated at Sunday’s concert. Audience members will compete for a prize by guessing the tune.

The free concert begins at 5 p.m.

Pioneer Park’s band shell is off of Nimrod Street in Nevada City.
