The positives of martial arts

The martial arts are about not fighting. I am sure that Mr. Perry is not allowing his young students to be bullies or use the skills he is teaching without also teaching responsibility, but I deeply question if anyone under 12 (and then sometimes, older) is mature enough to handle the great responsibility of having the skills that earn trophies in a competitive ring.

Martial arts is a wonderful thing to teach a young child, for self-defense (very different from competition) and for learning integrity, modesty, responsibility, honesty, courage and perseverance. Martial arts are not all about winning trophies.
