The Edlos bring satirical style to Grass Valley

“… when The Edlos put on a show, it’s not just standing on a stage and singing the tunes … oh no … there are lights, smoke, costumery, tomfoolery, wigs and assorted mayhem, that all combine to make an unforgettable performance. One last point. Humor. These guys have a strong sense of comedy. No. Let’s rephrase that. They’re a crackup. They can’t help it.”

-Associated Entertainment

Imagine listening to an a cappella journey back to the psychedelic ’60s. It’s all on the new recording, “Retropella,” by the satirist singing group, the Edlos.

Formed in 1988, The Edlos is known for powerful, classically trained voices and a madcap comic approach to live performance. The group is renowned for multiple costume changes and sight gags, as well as for a satirical rendition of everything from Gregorian chants to bluegrass and country, from Motown to rock and roll. The group’s original compositions aren’t bad, either.

The Edlos have performed with the likes of Waylon Jennings, Crystal Gayle, Ray Charles, Chicago, the Temptations, Lou Rawls, Bernadette Peters and Tower of Power and appeared in the PBS program, “The Lonesome Pines Special.”

In Grass Valley, group members will give folks a good show at The Center for the Arts on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 8 p.m. for $20. Get tickets by calling 274-8384, ext. 14; going online at http://www.thecenterforthearts.org, or visiting the usual CFA ticket outlets.
