Thank you from the family of Daniel Durgin

The Durgin, Traylor and Knapp families would like to extend their sincere thank you to all of you who have honored the memory of HM1 (FMF) Daniel Arthur Durgin in so many ways. Thank you to Admiral Reidy; Commander Hull; Commander Smith; Chaplain Thomas; PO Fish; HM2 Zosimo Gaborni, and all of the men and women Daniel served with in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps; Friends of Nevada County Military; Patriot Guard Riders; Blue Star Mothers; Ryder Flight Fly Over; Twin Cities Church; Grass Valley Sign; Nevada County Sheriff; Grass Valley Police; California Highway Patrol; Granite Construction; American Legion; Grass Valley Veterans Services; DCI Organ Donor Services; Kevin O’Connor; Jeff Pelline and The Union newspaper; Greg S. Elliott; Robert Elliott; Toni Morris; Cathy Jones; Sandy Brooke Video Productions; Neighbors on Red Lane; and so many others.

I wish there was enough space to list all of you by name, but please know we know who you are and we are thankful to all of you who are helping us through this most difficult time in our lives. I want to especially thank the father who told me he was so inspired by the way Daniel lived his life and the way the military honored Daniel, that it inspired him to encourage his child to maintain good grades in school, so one day he, too, could join the military. May God bless you all.

I will end this with the same credo Daniel lived by and how he ended every e-mail: “Opus, mereo, et adfero (work, serve, and contribute).”
