Terri Day

Private services for Terri Day of Grass Valley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. A celebration of life will follow at 3 p.m. at the Lovett Recovery Center, 145 Bost Ave., in Nevada City.

Mrs. Day died Thursday, May 2, in Grass Valley. She was 54.

She was born Dec. 4, 1947, in Paris Island, S.C., to George and Patricia Anderson. She graduated from nursing school in Napa in 1977. She married Phil Day on April 7, 1972, in San Leandro.

She worked for Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital from 1986 to 1992. She then worked for the Lovett Recovery Home in Nevada City from 1993 until her death. She helped start the alumni program at Lovett and also helped organize counseling at local high schools through Lovett. She enjoyed camping, her family and working at Lovett.

She is survived by her husband, Phil Day of Grass Valley; sons Christopher Day of Grass Valley and Johnathan Day of Sacramento; and daughter, Rebecca Matamales of Nevada City.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Terri Day Fund, 12183 Francis Drive, Grass Valley 95949.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
