Tennis tourney set for Sept. 20-21

Tennis players will have an opportunity to stay local, to compete and have fun in the Fall tennis tournament at Club Sierra Sports & Fitness Sept. 20-21.

Events are mens and womens singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Teens also are invited to play.

The entry deadline is Sept. 15. The fee is $20 per singles player and $30 per doubles/mixed doubles teams. Tennis balls will be provided.

Ability levels are Open/4.5 and above; 4.0; 3.5; 3.0; and 2.5, which will play up if necessary. Eligibility for doubles and/or mixed doubles is 100-plus years of combined age of partners.

Winners of each event will receive a gift certificate. Tournament proceeds will benefit NEO (New Events & Opportunities) for youth. Sponsoring the tournament is the Western Sierra Medical Center.

Players will be notified of start time(s). Scoring will be best two of three sets with a 12 point tie-breaker at six all in first two sets. For the third set, players can decide if they will play a super tiebreaker or regular win by two games.

Payment is required in advance with the entry form. Sign up by contacting Cheryl Rubin at 530-210-9913 and filling out an entry form at Club Sierra to turn into the front desk. Club Sierra is located at 130 W. Berryhill Drive, Grass Valley.
