Tecla McHugh

Tecla Eugenia McHugh, 85, of Grass Valley died Saturday, July 17, in Grass Valley of dementia and Alzheimer’s.

No services are planned. She will be cremated and her ashes will be spread on the water under the Golden Gate Bridge.

She and her husband owned and operated “Tyler’s Photo” for eight years on Mill Street and 28 years on West Main Street in Grass Valley, retiring in 1977. She taught Sunday school at Emmanuel Episcopal Church and swimming through the Red Cross. She was Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 130. She was active in school and the financing of Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. She spent the last 3 1/2 years at Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Tyler; sons Robert “Bob” of Houston, Texas, Tyler “Dink” of Medford, Ore., and William “Bill” of Tracy; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley 95945.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
