Tape played in alleged rapist’s prelim trial

A tape of a phone conversation between alleged rapist Dino Leal and the alleged victim was played in court during a preliminary hearing this morning.

Deputy district attorney Katie Francis played the tape in which Leal admitted to sexually assaulting the victim in February.

Detective Jason Perry recorded the phone conversation in the victim’s home two days after the rape.

Leal, a registered sex offender, was charged with suspicion of rape and forcible penetration against the victim’s will.
