Tango in Auburn

Tango de Oro transforms The Arts Building in downtown Auburn on Friday with an Argentine style milonga, the traditional all-night tango dance party.

Those new to tango will have the opportunity for a one hour beginning tango lesson at 8 p.m., featuring tango history and demonstration.

From 9 p.m. to midnight tango professionals Mark Napier of Sacramento and Cynthia Miller of Georgetown will take the floor to lead the milonga. No partner is required, and all skill levels are welcome. Leather-soled shoes are recommended for men and women.

Refreshments and wine will be served.

Tickets for the tango lesson and Milonga are $15, and for Milonga dance party only $10. The final Milonga dance party of 2008 is scheduled for Sept. 12. Purchase tickets online at PlacerArts.org or call (530) 885-5670.
