Talkin’ Bout My Generation

Why is it that the cruel joke of aging is that we don’t FEEL as old as we are? I look my age, but only feel that old when I’m exercising. The rest of the time I feel about 18. Really.

So you can imagine what a shock it is when I pass by a mirror and see this nearly 60-year-old woman staring back at me. Often I’m startled, thinking “who is that old bag?” Then a jolt of reality hits and I realize it’s me.

On the other hand, as a two-time cancer survivor, I can tell you I am thankful for every single day. No one appreciates life as much as someone who’s had a brush with death.

I’m not the one saying “No more birthdays for me.” I say, I cherish every birthday ” it sure beats the alternative.
