Take your little trick or treater to downtown Grass Valley, get a book

Halloween treats, a free book, a puppet show, a visit with firemen and some hot chocolate.

The annual “Safe Trick or Treat,” a Nevada County Halloween tradition sponsored by the Grass Valley Downtown Association, will be hosted this year on Friday, Oct. 29. Bring your preschooler and trick-or-treat with the local merchants who will be dressed in costumes and handing out treats from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Don’t forget to stop by The Center for the Arts at 314 Main St. where another great tradition supports early literacy in the community, the ninth annual “Read to Your Child Halloween Book Giveaway.”

Children will be able to take home a free book, receive a personalized book plate, watch a puppet show, visit with the fire department, sip on some hot chocolate and have fun. There will be information for parents as well.

“Read To Your Child” is sponsored and supported by the Community Support Network of Nevada County, Child Abuse Prevention Council, First 5 Nevada County, Friends of Nevada County Libraries, Gold Country Kiwanis, Grass Valley Center for the Arts, KARE Crisis Nursery, PARTNERS Family Resource Centers, Rotary of Grass Valley, Safe Schools Healthy Students, Starbucks and others.
