Support needed for Veterans’ Bill

Please e-mail or write Congressman Doolittle about the pending vote on veterans’ education benefits. It is part of the supplemental appropriation bill for Iraq and Afghanistan. It passed the House by a 256-166 bipartisan vote, but not by enough to override the President’s threatened veto.

Our men and women service members deserve the same support as the World War II and Korean veterans. According to the Sacramento Bee, funding the benefits for a full year would cost the same as one week’s spending on the Iraq and Afghanistan war.

Congressman Doolittle’s e-mail address can be found on his website at http://www.doolittle.house.gov. Click on “contact.” He only accepts letters from his district. His mailing address is 2410 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, D.C., 20515.

You might also try to find out how our district candidates McClintock, Ose, and Brown would have voted on veterans’ benefits.
