Supervisor candidates speak tonight

The League of Women Voters of Western Nevada County will host a candidate forum, featuring the candidates for Nevada County Supervisor, from 7-9 p.m. today at the Nevada City council chambers for the upcoming June 6 California Primary Election.

Candidates expected to be in attendance include incumbent District III Supervisor John Spencer and challenger Terry Lamphier. District IV candidates, seeking to replace outgoing Supervisor Robin Sutherland, include Gordon Beatie, Martin Harmon and Hank Weston.

In addition to the candidates for supervisor, candidates for Nevada County Clerk Recorder, including incumbent Kathleen Smith and challenger Gregory Diaz, are also expected to participate in the forum.

Nevada City ‘s council chambers, are located at City Hall, 317 Broad St.

Attendance is free and members of the public can submit written questions to the candidates, said Dottie Schmidt of the League of Women Voters. Local attorney Stephen Munkelt will serve as moderator.

The public is invited to attend the free events hosted by the League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan organization that does not support or oppose candidates.

A recorded broadcast of the forum will air at 8 p.m. Thursday on Nevada City radio station KVMR-FM (89.5).
