Studio art tour celebrates abundance of area artists

Forty-six studios will be open Saturday and Sunday during the annual Western Nevada County Open Studios Art Tour’s second of two weekends.

The free tour is to acquaint the public with the many visual artists living here.

Several disciplines are included, such as printmaking, watercolors, acrylics, photography, fine woodworking, fiber, glass, mobiles, jewelry, ceramics and sculpture.

Tour hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Open Studios Tour brochures, including maps, are at the Center for the Arts, Odyssey Books, Nevada City Picture Framing, J.J. Jackson’s and Nevada City Winery.

The tour’s Web site, http://www.openstudiostour.org, also contains samples of artists’ works, studio directions and maps.

Works of 75 area artists are also on display at the Center for the Arts (314 W. Main St. in Grass Valley) through Friday. Viewing hours today and Friday are noon to 4 p.m.

Call 274-8384 or 265-6951 or e-mail info@openstudiostour.org for more details about this event.
