Student art show slated at cafe

A new art show at the South Pine Cafe features student work from the Nevada City School of the Arts. Sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade students in Cindy Barry’s elective class, The Illustrator’s Art, studied work by illustrators ranging from Edward Gorey to the Brothers Hildebrandt. The marriage between image and word was explored.

Students used both their own writing and text from existing sources as the inspiration for their images. The show will be up through the end of February.
