Storms expected next week

After a nice weekend, Nevada County residents can expect two more storm systems next week according to the National Weather Service in Sacramento.

Rain is likely in the foothills Monday, with mixed snow and rain expected in the higher elevations from the first storm.

A colder storm is expected to bring rain and snow Tuesday through Thursday, with snow levels dropping to 2,700 feet on Wednesday night.

Drivers could run into gusty winds and swirling snow in the higher elevations during the second storm, the weather service said. They are urged to carry tire chains, water, food, clothing and a flashlight.
