Stevens cares

It’s disheartening to watch the rampant ill will invading the current political scene. And no ” I’m not talking about the national debacle, but in our own backyards with certain candidates being supported by one of the two big parties.

Call me naïve, but shouldn’t we be above the “politics as usual” mentality in our community-based county? Local issues affect us uniquely and shouldn’t be made by those who serve some rhetorical partisan agenda.

Linda Stevens hasn’t received a gold star from the Democrats or Republicans, and I take that as a sign that she’s been effective at not serving a particular agenda, but rather the community as a whole.

I’ve known Linda since 1983 when we fought to defeat a mining company in our neighborhood, and even though we live in different districts, I’ve watched her for years as she’s served as councilwoman and mayor of Grass Valley. Her abilities in public service reflect the qualities that keep us friends ” she listens, cares about people, and has presence of mind to know that life isn’t a simplistic black and white exercise.

Linda has repeatedly shown her dedication to serving the diverse needs of this county. And without being partisan.
