Steve Wolfrum

A celebration of life for Steve Wolfrum of Nevada City will be conducted at noon Saturday at the Country Store on Tyler Foote Crossing Road in North San Juan. A Marine Corps League Honor Guard presentation will be conducted at 2 p.m.

Mr. Wolfrum died Saturday, Jan. 31. He was 50.

He was born July 2, 1953. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1973 to 1977 during the Vietnam War and was in the reserves from 1977 to 1979. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Services Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Rifle Expert Badge, and a Meritorious Mast. He had lived in Nevada County for the past 20 years, where he worked as a carpenter. He was a member of the Gold Country Detachment 885. He enjoyed fishing, growing vegetables and reading. He also enjoyed his friends and his dogs, Black Dog and Chester.
