Staple, Savren read at Odyssey

Will Staple will read from his latest collection of poetry, “Rattlesnake Woman,” and award-winning Shelley Savren will read from her third book, “Common Fire,” tonight at 7.

Staple has been a popular poet for over 30 years, his most recent books of poetry being “Roxy” (written with Bill Gainer and Todd Cirillo) and “Luminosita Numinosa” (published in English and Italian). He is the recipient of the Enpol Median International Award for four books published between 1991-1999. His poetry, which is described as “having the taste of shamanism,” is seasoned with his characteristic humor.

Savren’s “Common Fire” is a book of family stories passed down from mothers and daughters and the struggles they faced.

The reading is free, and refreshments will be served.

Odyssey Books is located between Longs and Ralph’s at 11989 Sutton Way, Grass Valley.
