St. Joseph’s presents an evening of acoustic guitars

Chris Yeaton on slack key and Adam Warner and Teddy Randazzo Jr. on finger style guitar play tonight at St. Joseph’s Cultural Center, 410 South Church St., Grass Valley, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Yeaton was born in Oahu and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii, where he studied under slack key guitar masters Keola Beamer and John Keawe, touring with them last year. He now includes a light percussive element to his unique style of progressive slack key, incorporating a blend of contemporary finger style into his playing. Yeaton has a CD titled “Kikaha Malie” and a second, “The Stand,” to be released sometime this year.

Warner, who has been recognized as “One of the killer guitar players on the Los Angeles scene” by “No Ho LA” and is best known for his tribute to the late Michael Hedges.

Teddy Randazzo Jr. dazzles with his tapping, slapping finger style and open tuning techniques.

Tickets are $12 in advance at Love Shack Records in Nevada City, BriarPatch Co-op in Grass Valley, and Cherry Records in Auburn. Tickets are $15 at the door.
