IN THE WAKE OF THE WEEK: Bruins wrap exciting season; 49ers have a turnover problem
December 7, 2018
THE FINAL CHAPTER: A valiant effort seemed rewarded for the Bear River football Bruins. However, a penalty flag swung the result in the opposite direction. Regardless, it was an incredibly exciting campaign for Bear River. Many stars. Great results. Exciting football. Glad to have them in our county.
FRUSTRATING DAY FOR SHANAHAN: The San Francisco 49ers had 21 giveaways and five takeaways going into Sunday's game vs. the Seattle Seahawks. They were also 0-7 with a mere 11.4 points per game and 268.7 average yards vs. Seattle. Three fumbles and a pick-six doom Kyle Shanahan and company. Nick Mullens throws for 400-plus yards, but Matt Breida goes out with an ankle sprain. On to 2-10 with this 43-16 loss.
RAIDERS PUSH CHIEFS: Well, this was a surprise. A shootout in Oakland as the Raiders lose to the Chiefs 40-33. Three Oakland turnovers are the difference. Chiefs Travis Kelce has more than 168 yards on 13 catches. Oakland actually has a chance here with a last-second onside kick as they overrun the ball. It is a valiant effort as the Raiders keep pace with the 49ers at 2-10.
THE MCCARTHY DILEMA: The Green Bay Packers dismissed Mike McCarthy as head coach prior to the end of the season. One Super Bowl appearance and nine trips to the playoffs in 12 years were not enough. The ongoing tiff with Aaron Rodgers, a poor regular season performance and a disinterested team were major reasons. Was it time or did CEO Mark Murphy get it wrong? The debate swirls in the NFL.
MON DIEU!: The San Jose Sharks fail in their five-game road trip into Canada and Las Vegas. They lose four-of-five. However, they return home to best Carolina. It is a great November for captain Joe Pavelski with 11 goals and four assists. Joe Thornton is but two assists away from taking over 10th place all-time. In the highly competitive Pacific Division, they need to win to stay at the top. The team must also reach its potential!
SEATTLE GETS HOCKEY: It is time for this city to get a major league winter sport. The National Hockey League will debut in 2021 following major Key Arena renovations. It is a $650 million fee to enter the fray. They will be in the Pacific Division and will be a regular competitor of the San Jose Sharks.

'DRAYMOND HATES YOU': This is the troll that Atlanta Hawks fans used in the 128-111 pasting by Golden State in Atlanta. Kevin Durant, of course, was the target and it was unleashed when he went to the free throw line in the third quarter. How much is reality vs. fantasy? Once Green returns, we may learn more. Or, just perhaps, Green will grow up and act like an adult.
