SOPHIA LUCIA

Sophia Lucia died peacefully May 31 in Grass Valley. She was 81.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., July 28, at Quail Ridge Senior Living, 150 Sutton Way in Grass Valley. A funeral mass was held on June 20 in San Jose. She was buried at Los Gatos Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lucia was born in San Francisco. She and her husband, Vincent, moved to San Jose in 1955 where she was employed at Cambrian Bowl for more than 30 years. She was a member of the San Jose Women’s Bowling Association and the Italian Catholic Federation #191. She loved to cook, garden, and travel. She has been a Grass Valley resident for the past three years.



Mrs. Lucia is survived by her husband of 60 years, Vincent R. Lucia; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Lucia Balzer and David Balzer, and her granddaughter, Brittany, all of Grass Valley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frieda and Gust Dales.




Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.
