So-called ‘Victory’ overseas

Violence is down in Iraq and some on the right are saying we may be nearing victory. Our puppet government there and its military seem to be getting control of insurgent areas although political reconciliation remains elusive. Many well-informed experts say the final long-term price tag for this unnecessary war will be $3 trillion. There are roughly six million households in Iraq (excluding the Kurds), so that works out to a half-a-million dollars per household in a country where the average monthly income is under $300.

For that kind of money we could have tamed cancer and saved millions of Americans lives. A couple of more victories like this and you can kiss America good-bye. How big was your Federal stimulus check? I’m with Barack Obama – win, lose or draw the plan stays the same; the troops are coming home. The only winners are the profiteering contractors, Exxon Mobile, and Iran.
