Smoke and mirrors

It used to be that 1 plus 1 equals 2. But apparently not in today’s world of smoke and mirrors. 1. The Bush administration “borrowed” billions of dollars from Social Security Trust Fund surplus income in order to finance tax cuts which primarily benefited the richest Americans. 2. Alan Greenspan now says that Social Security and Medicare benefits will have to be cut because the level of benefits previously promised future retirees is too high for our country to afford. Are these two things connected? Who will be most adversely affected? Answer: the middle class and the poor. Do 2 plus 2 still equal four? P.S. I’ve never been a Democrat.
