Smoak and Measure G

There are two ballot items of importance to the educational community which touch all voters in western Nevada County. As County Superintendent of Schools, I request your vote to re-elect Dr. John Smoak to the Nevada County Board of Education. Dr. Smoak’s educational experience and passion for assisting our youth make shim the logical choice.

Secondly, the need to complete our local Sierra College campus is essential. It is only half a “campus” as state bond monies finished Phase I nine years ago. We have a chance, with the passage of Measure G, to complete the campus and provide our local youth, seniors and businesses a full blown campus. This will allow our youth to earn a degree locally to enter into the nursing, construction or police/fire safety professions.

Furthermore, the skyrocketing costs of higher education are forcing more families to pursue the two-year Sierra College option. Your support of Measure G is a message of hope and caring for our families and our youth.

Dr. Terence K. McAteer

Nevada County Superintendent of Schools
