Smith qualified for election run

Kristin Smith of Nevada City is qualified to run for the Nevada County Superior Court Judge first office.

“Due to an internal error in the County Clerk’s office, Ms. Kristin Smith was incorrectly declared disqualified as of 7:00 yesterday evening. Ms. Smith and candidates, please accept my sincere apology for this mistake,” Nevada County Clerk-Recorder Kathleen Smith wrote in an e-mail Thursday morning.

Smith filed her candidacy papers just before Wednesday’s extended deadline. She joins five other candidates in the race for the seat vacated by Judge Carl Bryan.
