A favorite attraction at Victorian Christmas events are chestnuts roasting over an open fire. Cecil Snow, dressed in chimney sweep attire, will keep the fire going and chat with onlookers every evening of Victorian Christmas. Cecil has been Nevada City’s chestnut roaster for many years.

The chestnuts, compliments of the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce, will be given to anyone who desires. There will often be groups of carolers warming their hands while singing Christmas carols around the fire. Children are delighted with the experience of tasting roasted chestnuts and watching the old fashioned entertainment.

The chestnut fire is located in the Broad Street Furnishings parking lot off Commercial Street. Benches surround the fire for your enjoyment.
