Slur against Navy

Yesterday I received a telephone call from a gentleman encouraging me to cast my ballot for Olivia Diaz to become supervisor for District 1. In the course of the conversation I inquired the reason he had for supporting Ms. Diaz, and he gave the same reasons that were in a recent article in The Union. I replied that her opponent, Nate Beason had more executive experience after 30 years service in the United States Navy. The caller then replied, as if Nate were some kind of a martinet, “Yes, where he could give orders downward.”

Having served in our Navy in the enlisted ranks and having met Nate, I took immediate umbrage to that slur and take it as an insult to all who have served our country in the armed services.
