Sierranaders installation ceremony

On Saturday, Jan. 16, the Sierranaders, the local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, had their annual installation for their board members. It was a fun night that included lots of harmonious singing. Of the 11 members of the board, there are 297 years of barbershop singing membership.

One of the special awards was presented to Roger Perkins for his 25 years of service as the group’s chorus director.

New members are always welcome and encouraged to come and join in the fun of singing and fellowship. Free coaching is always provided at Tuesday night practices at Burback Hall in the Senior Center in Auburn. For more information, call (530) 268-3405.

The wonderful dinner, a formal affair, was held at the Power Club with many of the members staying overnight at the Power’s Mansion Inn Bed & Breakfast so the singing could go on into the night and resume at the gourmet breakfast in the morning. What a fun group!

The Sierranaders next activity is scheduled for February when they perform Singing Valentines, a longtime tradition for all of the 30,000 member strong barbershop choruses around the world. To schedule a harmonious salutation for that someone special, call (530) 823-0339.
