Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital named one of the nation’s best

Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital today was named one of the top 100 hospitals in the United States.

The distinction comes from Solucient, a health care business information firm. Using data from reports filed with the federal government, the company ranked the Grass Valley hospital with 19 others in the medium community hospital category with 100 to 249 beds. Sierra Nevada has 121.

The data dealt with financial performance, quality patient outcomes, patient safety and satisfaction, according to Tom Collier, the hospital’s CEO. Collier said Solucient ranks the data without soliciting the hospital and he believes his hospital does not do business with the firm.

“I hope it gives the community a little more confidence in us,” Collier said. “Sometimes they think bigger is better but it’s not necessarily so.”
