Sierra Nevada Cancer Center holding writing workshop

The Sierra Nevada Cancer Center is sponsoring a Winter 2006 Writing Workshop for cancer patients, survivors, their caregivers and family members. “Writing to Heal” taught by Molly Fisk takes place at the Sierra Nevada Hospital Classroom A, from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursdays Feb. 2 through March 30 (except March 9).

The act of writing is a healing tool that’s been used for centuries, but only recently have scientists documented the lowered blood pressure and boost to the immune system that writing can give. But not just any writing works in this way! The key to using writing to heal is to write about events while simultaneously drawing on your emotions to embellish the bare facts. Molly has developed a process that makes this kind of writing easy and fun. Come learn her secret technique (if you can make a grocery list, you can learn this!) and write your way toward healing. We will do in-class exercises and some critiquing. The class atmosphere is safe, professional, and often fairly hilarious.

Class fee $20. For more information or registration call 274-6872.
