Show some respect – please

There needs to be more respect and people willing to listen and validate our thoughts and feelings in today’s society.

These are all things that each one of us crave, desire and need in everyday life; not only in our work environments, but in our family life and in our dealings with each and every person we come in contact with throughout the day, every day of our lives.

This has become clearer to me with each passing year, and it also becomes more and more difficult to handle when you know you are not shown these basic courtesies.

Being a woman who has a disability makes it easier for persons not to show these common niceties. I do not think it is fair or reasonable for people to treat each other in such a manner. I know and understand that I am not going to bring about any changes just because I write one simple article. I simply felt like I needed to say these things.

Who knows? Maybe this simple little piece might even get a couple people thinking.
