Shirley Crom

Memorial services for Shirley Crom of Penn Valley will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Penn Valley Community Church. Her body will be donated to the University of California at Davis School of Medicine for research.

Mrs. Crom died Thursday, Nov. 7, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. She was 80.



She was born Aug. 2, 1922, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Ernest Plummer and Martha Welke. She married Robert Ward Edwards on Dec. 14, 1941, and Lester Vernon Crom on July 1, 1947.

She was a home health aide for almost 20 years. She was a member of Penn Valley Community Church and the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. She enjoyed collecting pins and sharing them.




She is survived by her sons Timothy Edwards of San Diego and Daniel Crom of Olivehurst; daughters Merryanne Robinson of Penn Valley and Melody Collins of Visalia; sister, Ruth Zivkovic; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; parents; and grandson Jason Gilreath.
