Settlement reached with college leader

The Sierra College board has reached a settlement with embattled college president Kevin Ramirez that will allow the community college’s top administrator to keep his post through July.

Details of the agreement were still emerging early today, after the board met behind closed doors for the fourth time since Jan. 11. That is when the board decided to begin talks on the future of Ramirez, who has led the college system for nearly 12 years.

The agreement was reached after more than six hours of closed-session meetings Thursday evening.
