Serious Trouble performs at Cooper’s Friday

When Serious Trouble from Sacramento plays Cooper’s for the first time Friday, one of the members will be familiar with the venue.

That member is drummer Johnny Avila, a former Nevada City musician who moved to the River City a few years ago.

The other Serious Trouble members include guitarist/lead vocalist “Screamin’ Dave Wright, bassist Joe Lev and lead guitarist Bob Fogle.

The bluesy rock band’s new second CD, “Tell Me,” includes guest performances from Barry Melton of Country Joe and the Fish and David Kaff, Spinal Tap’s keyboardist along with Sacramento’s favorite Mick Martin. The CD is distributed in the United States as well as England, France, Belgium and Brazil.

Serious Trouble plays from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Cooper’s, 235 Commercial St., Nevada City. Cover charge is $5.
