Senseless livestock murder

As a commuter who drives to the valley daily to my work as a special education teacher, I often use Mooney Flat Road. For five years I have enjoyed watching the pair of large black and white oxen who were each other’s best buddies, always within 6 feet of each other, right along the road.

Thursday morning, someone shot and killed one of them for no reason. The cruel stupidity of this act brought tears to my eyes. We live in a world soaked with violence. Must we bring it home? I hope that law enforcement catches the shooter. I stopped to commiserate with the elderly farmer, who had a good description of the vehicle. My life in Nevada County has been diminished by this ugly loss. The “animal” was not the victim, but rather the drive-by shooter.
