See Vermillion Lies, Ditty Bops and be truly entertained

On the San Juan Ridge tonight, The Ditty Bops and Vermillion Lies will perform in cabaret style a mix of music while they do theatrics.

Vermillion Lies is made up of sisters Kim and Zoe Boekbinder who lived for many years in Nevada City. They play a contagious mix of music ranging from lyrical folk melodies to raucous circus ballads, complete with toy piano and accordion. Their live shows are often a riotous affair as the sisters pull small bicycles, typewriters, washboards, pots and pans, broken pipes, plastic lobsters and more from big trunks onstage.

The Ditty Bops, who are signed to Warner Bros. and have opened for Tori Amos, appeared on the popular public radio program “Prairie Home Companion” and the soundtrack of the TV series “Grey’s Anatomy,” are currently embarking on a cross-country tour on their bicycles.

The show begins at 7 p.m. at the North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center, Tyler Foote Road, Nevada City. $15 for nonmembers, $13 for members. Contact 265-2826 or for more information.
