School teacher Ken Ramirez also a novelist

Ken Ramirez, a Nevada Union High School science teacher and coach, will appear at The Book Seller Friday to discuss his new fantasy novel, “Gift of the Ancient Grove.”

Ramirez’s students are the inspiration for many of the story’s characters.

“Gift of the Ancient Grove” is the story of Naida, a young gnome and a powerful healer, who is not satisfied with the opportunities available to girls in the ancient grove. So Naida runs away with her good friend and her pet lynx into the adventurous world of trolls, sprites and wood elves. This novel is the first book of a fantasy trilogy for young adults.

Ramirez’s free talk will be at 6 p.m. The Book Seller is at 107 Mill St. in Grass Valley.

Call 272-2131 for any questions.
