Scary health view

Did you hear it? On the third televised debate, our president said, “The U.S. has a health system that’s the envy of the world.” ” unbelievable!

Among nations we rank 26th in infant mortality. We’re 24th in disability adjusted life expectancy. The World Health Organization reports that the U.S. ranks 37th in general “Health Performance.” The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development rates the U.S. 54th among member nations in terms of fairness.

Forty-six million U.S. people have no health insurance. Among developed nations, only South Africa and the U.S. fail to provide health care for all their citizens. Embarrassingly, even Cuba’s well-thought-of medical care is nearly free.

It goes on and on. Four times as many Americans commit suicide as in 15 European countries! Everywhere emergency rooms and trauma centers are closing and hospitals are going broke. For this we spend more than any other nation on earth.

I thought he was lying, hoping that Americans were too isolated to know the truth. However my wife has convinced me he really believes it. She reminded me, “Even he admits he doesn’t read much.” Our president’s clueless about how poorly our health care system ranks internationally ” scary.
