Say no to ‘box’ design for drugstore

First I am not sure that we need another drugstore here. Are we so desperate to get another “box drugstore” that we will sign up for anything they are willing to shove our way? We are two very unique cities that sell ourselves and prosper on a unique experience for tourists. We want people to come here and have a unique experience so they will come back. We don’t want a place that looks like Sacramento.

We need to take the initiative and say that if you (Walgreens) want to be a part of our community, then be a business that supports recycling, supports solar energy, supports other businesses and has a building that fits into and supports the community.

Say no to the “box.” Say yes to keeping the community unique in style and grace. Keep it a place where people want to come visit again when they want to get away from the big, box-store communities.

Whether Walgreens builds its design or a design that fits this community, the prices it will sell things for will be the same, and the competition will still be there for our benefit. I strongly encourage the city and citizens to stand tall and firm on this issue.
