Satirical Singer Songwriter Headlines Democratic Picnic

“Thanks for the Support” is singer-songwriter, political satirist Roy Zimmerman’s new comedy act, also captured on his latest CD, full of fiercely funny songs lambasting all things political in this most political year. And he’s made a “campaign promise” to perform in all fifty states before the election.

Of the infectious comedic energy of Zimmerman’s performance, his manic vocalizations, and his virtuosity as a guitarist, the Los Angeles Times says, “Zimmerman displays a lacerating wit and keen awareness of society’s foibles that bring to mind a latter-day Tom Lehrer.”

Who is Zimmerman thanking for the support? “Well, I owe a lot to the Bush administration,” he says. “Political comedians are the only subgroup of the American workforce for whom Bush has provided job security.”

Congressional candidate Lt. Col. USAF (retired) Charlie Brown will be at the picnic, and so will California Assembly candidate Mickey Harrington and other candidates for local office.

Proceeds from the catered picnic offset delegate Curtis Walker’s travel to the Democratic National Convention, and help pay for Charlie Brown’s campaign office and Democratic Central Committee headquarters, both at 2059 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley.
