Sands Hall to discuss the craft of writing and creating a scene

Playwright, director and author Sands Hall will speak on “Writer’s Craft and Creating a Scene” Wednesday at the library.

Hall is an affiliate artist with the local Foothill Theatre Company, where she frequently directs – mostly recently, the world premiere of “Strange Sightings in the Great Southwest.”

Acting and directing helps her in writing, especially with character development and dialogue. This is apparent in her best-selling novel “Catching Heaven.” Hall also writes nonfiction, including one on writing titled “Tools of the Writer’s Craft.”

An accomplished teacher (she teaches at the Iowa Summer Writing Festival and Squaw Valley Community of Writers), Hall will begin her presentation at 7 p.m. at the Madelyn Helling Library Community Room, 980 Helling Way, Nevada City. There is no charge.
