Sandra Wasley

A reception for Sandra Jean (Englefield) Wasley of Nevada City will be conducted from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Nevada City Elks Lodge No. 518.

Mrs. Wasley died Wednesday, March 30, at home after a long illness. She was 65.

She was born May 24, 1939, in Grass Valley, where she graduated from Nevada Union High School in 1957. She was a longtime resident of Oroville before moving to Nevada City in 1973. She enjoyed her family, friends and entertaining people. She also enjoyed doing embroidery, gardening, and reading. She was a member of Jobs Daughters, Soroptimist and the Moose Lodge.



She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Carl J. Wasley; sons and daughters-in-law Ronald and Beckie Mewes of Nevada City and Gary and Debra Mewes of Penn Valley; son, Kevin Mewes of Grass Valley; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Martha Englefield of El Dorado; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Martha Wasley; granddaughters Brooke Mewes, Rachael Mewes and Madison Mewes; grandsons Christopher Mewes, Shane Rodgers, Quentin Mewes; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy “Dot” and Lawrence “Mike” Englefield.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
