San Juan Ridge woman gets fine, probation in neighbor dispute

A San Juan Ridge woman was sentenced Friday to three years probation on a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace by loud noise stemming from a 2014 incident involving her neighbors.

Artemesia Lee, 71, was also sentenced to the eight days she previously served in jail, ordered to stay away from the neighbors involved in the dispute and fined $632.50.

The court delayed payment on $367.50 of the fine for six months, and ordered Lee to begin paying the remaining balance of the fine, $265, in $25 per month installments beginning Oct. 1.

At a court hearing in November, Christopher Silva, Lee’s neighbor, alleged that Lee had hit his son Kyle, with her truck, causing minor injuries, and tried to hit him with the vehicle after driving onto Silva’s property looking for her dogs on July 8, 2014.

Lee’s public defender, Tamara Zuromskis, argued there was no evidence that Lee intentionally struck Kyle or tried to strike Christopher.

Lee originally pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the incident.

Those charges were vacated as part of a plea deal arranged at a July 27 court hearing, when Lee agreed to plead no contest to the lesser charge of disturbing the peace.
