If you’ve been entertaining out-of-town guests nonstop during this busy holiday season, a salsa break might do wonders for your current energy level.

Friday from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. is the perfect opportunity to take a break. That’s when the 12-piece Conquista Musical will be at Cooper’s in Nevada City.

Be sure to grab your dancing shoes. Better yet, grab your shoes and your guests and enjoy the rumba, mambo and cha-cha.

Conquista Musical combines traditional Afro-Cuban rhythms with classic salsa rhythms.

The Sacramento band includes up to five vocalists, four horns, a rhythm section and a percussion section.

Don’t worry if you’re rusty on Latin dance steps. A salsa dance class taught by David Welner will be offered at 8:30 that night.

Admission is $5.

Cooper’s is at 235 Commer- cial St.; phone is 265-0116.
